Oshiego’s latest interview with Extreme Music Independent Magazine (9th issue, December 2022)! A comprehensive look into Oshiego and our latest release ‘Jaljalut’. Check it out! Thrash & Destroy !
“Death/thrash metal act from Singapore Oshiego have released their fifth full-length this year (2022) as they revealed that for their fifth album they were inspired by works of past Sufi masters in mysticism, theurgic and thaumatic sciences. Entitled, ‘Jaljalut’, the band said that the title ‘Jaljalut’ itself was taken from the Shams al-Ma’ārif of the 13th century Sufi writer Aḥmad ibn ‘Alī al-Būnī, an ode attributed to Imām ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib.
According to the band, their concept has been pretty consistent since the release of their second album, ‘The Great Architect of Nothing’. Being Muslims, the band said that they would like to write things close to their hearts too and this could be seen in their songs in which they cover topics such as Islamic Jurisprudence, Sufism, Islamic Prophesies, championing righteousness and slamming injustice, etc.
